Yaounde, December 25, 2025 - Smiles, songs and gifts filled the corridors of the Chantal Biya Foundation on Christmas Day, as humanitarian association Mori's Child celebrated the 5th edition of its flagship event: "Christmas with Children Affected by Cancer."

Since 2021, the Cameroonian association has made December 25th more than just a holiday. Every year, it transforms the hemato-oncology unit of the Chantal Biya Foundation into a place of celebration, to bring festive cheer and comfort to young cancer patients and their families.

Restoring Hope Through Faith

The day began with an ecumenical mass celebrated by Father Barthelemy Nkoa of the Obala Diocese, in the presence of children, parents, caregivers and partners.

In a powerful homily focused on love, solidarity and dignity, Father Nkoa reminded everyone that Christmas is a celebration of the love of Jesus Christ, whose birth brings healing, hope and faith. He encouraged parents to hold on to faith and never give up hope for their sick children.

Laughter, Dance and Gifts

After the mass, the atmosphere shifted to pure joy. Teachers from Mori's Child's flagship educational program, the "Happy Class" project, took over with music, dancing, and interactive games. For a few hours, the hospital was filled with laughter instead of worry.

Gifts were then distributed to all the children, a symbolic gesture to make them feel special, loved, and just like any other child.

A Message of Courage

In her keynote address, Ruth Grace Ngo Nyobe, Founder and President of Mori's Child, thanked parents, children, volunteers and partners whose support makes the initiative grow year after year.

Speaking to the press, she said:

"Even though the association was created in July 2021, we decided to officially launch our activities in December. So every December 25th, we celebrate our anniversary by putting our heroes at the center: the children. Through this celebration, we want to put a smile on their faces and give hope to desperate parents who no longer believe in treatment. We also want to encourage parents to bring their children to the hospital, because childhood cancers are curable when detected and treated early."

"We are happy and grateful for all that God does. None of this would have been possible without Him guiding our work. That's why we organized this ecumenical celebration to thank our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ," she added.

For parents like Aboubakar, met at the end of the event, the initiative is a lifeline: "Thanks to Mori's Child, we feel at home in the hospital. We are more motivated than ever to support our children because they have the right to treatment."

About Mori's Child

Founded in 2021 by young advocate Ruth Grace Ngo Nyobe, Mori's Child is a Cameroonian humanitarian association dedicated to children affected by cancer.

Beyond medical support, the association provides educational continuity through its "Happy Class" project, psychological and emotional support for families, and helps cover the high costs of care. It works in close collaboration with the Chantal Biya Foundation and international partners such as World Child Cancer.

In just five years, the association has already supported over 343 children and their families, giving them not only care, but hope for recovery and a future.
